I loved this bathroom. Two steps up on a plywood deck, it was gigantic. With a huge clawfoot tub painted pale blue, the bathroom's only drawback was that its sheetrock walls didn't go all the way to the ceiling. As a result, you could hear everything in both directions. The rope swing that hung from a beam in the livingroom, and which came perilously close to the bathroom door, also made it dangerous to come out of the bathroom too quickly at a party.

I'd forgotten that there was another bathroom - almost never used and creepy with grime - rammed just inside the front door. The catbox was there, too. That makes me sad to think about. Bill Moyers Journal, Ray Mancini, Philip C. Habib, special envoy.
